Check, Please! Arizona Festival Sunday, March 22
Fans of Eight's Check, Please! Arizona can sample food and meet chefs from some of the restaurants that have been featured on the popular show at the Check, Please! Arizona Festival at CityScape. The event, which is a fundraiser for Eight, Arizona PBS and is co-sponsored by New Times, will feature more than 25 local restaurants including Haus Murphy's, Tarbell's, Cowboy Ciao, Rancho Pinot, Durant's, and Amy's Baking Company, as well as wine and beer pairings from participating wineries and breweries. The event also includes cooking demonstrations, panel discussions, and a "wine tour," with appearances from chefs including Robert McGrath, Christopher Gross, Chris Bianco, and more. Great American Barbeque & Beer Festival Saturday, March 21
With live music and copious amounts of barbecue and beer, the Great American Barbecue & Beer Festival in downtown Chandler is always a family-friendly and enjoyable event. The annual festival will feature 50 food vendors and more than 100 exhibitors this year, who will serve up 20,000 pounds of 'cue and 200 kegs of craft beer throughout the day. On the main stage you'll be able to catch performances from Georgia Chrome, Laura Walsh, and headliners the Eli Young Band, as well as enjoy entertainment such as a March Madness lounge, Chester's Harley Davidson pavilion, and Ride Now off road area. Peixoto Coffee Pistol Whipped Pastry Pop-Up Sunday, March 22
We've already told you about Peixoto Coffee in Chandler, the new shop that's serving crop-to-cup coffee sourced from the owner's family's farm in Brazil. Well, if that wasn't already enough to get you into your car and out to Chandler, then here's another good reason: this Sunday the coffee shop is hosting a pop-up bakeshop from Pistol Whipped Pastry. Pastry chef Rachel Miller, who has contributed to Chow Bella, will be selling limited quantities of pastries including bacon tarts, scones, pies, cookies, s'mores, sables, and more.
