The caddy races might be banned this year, but that won't stop thousands of (rowdy) locals and tourists from hitting the green to get in on the action at the Waste Management Phoenix Open. Tradition dictates that the event is as much about drinking and partying as it is about golf, particularly on the infamous 16th hole. Which is a large part of the reason it's the best golf event all year.

Zinc Bistro
Chef Matt Carter serves upscale French comfort food at Zinc Bistro, located at Kierland Commons, less than two miles from the TPC. If you're seated inside the restaurant, take in the Parisian ambiance of the eatery's contemporary but still authentic design, while the patio offers bistro tables and wicker chairs. There are few bad choices on Carter's menu, which includes duck confit, diver scallops, Hudson Valley duck breast, and quite possibly some of the best French onion soup you've ever tasted. The Grill at the TPC
If you're not looking to travel far for a bite to eat then The Grill at the TPC is a fitting option for lunch or dinner. The restaurant can be accessed from the golf course as well as through the Scottsdale Fairmont Princess and offers impressive views of the TPC's 18th hole, so you'll be able to keep an eye on the action while you dine. We've been known to take a late morning break here before returning to catch the last of the day's play. The grill's menu features high-end pub cuisine such as braised short ribs, tuna carpacccio, and linguini with Manila clams. The beer list includes some special offerings like Chimay Grande Reserve and La Fin Du Monde.
Four Peaks Tap and Grill
Less than five minutes from the TPC, you'll find an outpost of Four Peaks Brewery, one of the state's leading breweries. Four Peaks Tap & Grill won't offer views of the beer-making process like the original Tempe location, but they still have the same menu of first-rate food. Of course, the brew pub also taps all the available Four Peaks craft beers. Grab a pint of the seasonal Four Peaks Winter Wobbler if you can -- it was inspired by champurrado, or Mexican hot chocolate. The pub also serves daily lunch and dinner specials, which you can view on the Four Peaks North Facebook page.
Dominick's Steakhouse
Those looking for a truly memorable experience will find what they seek at Dominick's Steakhouse at the Scottsdale Quarter. The restaurant, just two miles from the TPC, is a temple to high-quality steaks and luxury dining. The 10,500 square foot, two-story restaurant has poolside dining upstairs and not one, but two pianos downstairs. Drop a pretty penny on your meal here and you'll be rewarded with prime steaks, seafood, and Italian-inspiried fare such as fried meatballs and tomato and mozzarella salad. There's also an Early Bar Menu offered from 4 to 6:30 p.m. daily, for those looking to indulge a little more reasonably.
Zipps Kierland
You can keep things really casual (not to mention sporty) at Zipps, a local favorite chain of family-friendly sports bars. Zipps Kierland, located on the south side of 64th street and Greenway Parkway, has everything a sports lover could want: plenty of televisions, shuffleboard, pool, and, yes, Golden Tee. Whether you sit on the patio or in large dining room, you won't want to miss the signature Golden Wings and Zipparitas. Healthier options, if you want them, include focaccia sandwiches and a nice selection of salads.
