Joyride Taco House and Postino Monday, June 23 and Tuesday, June 24

This week marks the one-year anniversary of Joyride Taco House joining Postino WineCafé in downtown Gilbert. In celebration, Upward Projects is offering a week of deals that starts today and tomorrow with $20 for a board of bruschetta and a bottle of wine at Postino or kids eat free at Joyride Taco. On Wednesday and Thursday Postino will serve $5 bruschetta boards, while Joyride delivers $1 carne asada or veggie tacos. Postino WineCafe & Joyride Taco House food and drink specials will be offered at the Gilbert locations only.

Sassi Wednesday, June 25

North Scottsdale's Sassi will kick off its Summer 2014 Food & Wine Series this Wednesday with an interactive demonstration from Executive Chef Christopher Nicosia. Throughout the summer the series will explore authentic Italian cooking inspired by the varied regions of Italy. The first session begins with a list of basic Italian grocery items and some easy recipes for basic Italian dishes. Each dish will also be paired with an Italian wine. Each cooking class is $59 per person, which includes three four-ounce glasses of wine paired with the meal from the evening's demonstration. To make a reservation on the Sassi website click the "Summer Food and Wine" heading and select the event date, and number of persons attending under the "notes" field.

Fired Pie Wednesday, June 25

This Wednesday, Phoenix-based pizza chain Fired Pie will celebrate their newest location off Greenway-Hayden Loop and Scottsdale Road. The fast-casual restaurant will be offering one free pizza or salad per person all day on Wednesday. The newest store opened last week and is located at 15425 N Scottsdale Rd #100 in Scottsdale. Fired Pie lets diners pick and choose their own type of dough, sauce and topping to make a customized pizza.

Scramble Thursday, June 26

On Thursday Scramble in Scottsdale will launch a "Think Global - Eat Local" monthly series that will feature include an interactive event and monthly special made from a featured local product. The series will start off with an event hosted by Patrick O'Malley of Espresso Italia in Tempe. From 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, O'Malley will teach guests about coffee, the roasting process, fair trade and more, and will demonstrate chocolate latte art. $25 admission includes an Espresso Italia cappuccino (including the saucer and cup), pastries, and a VIP gift bag with coffee beans, loose teas, and a other goodies. Milagro Grill Thursday, June 26

Take a trip to the winemaking regions of Chile this week when Milagro Grill hosts a four-course dinner paired with wine from the award-winning Vina Casablanca Winery. The evening begins at 6:30 p.m. with a cocktail reception that will be followed by four-course meal of spicy Latin food and fine South American wines. The menu includes habanero crab cakes, salmon with guava, and pork belly slider and filet tacos. The dinner costs $40 per person and reservations are required. Call 602-773-5844.
