International Bacon Day Saturday, August 30

Bacon lovers, rejoice! This Saturday is International Bacon Day and two local restaurants are offering bacon-centric eats and drinks to celebrate the occasion. At Snooze in Phoenix the celebration centers around Tender Belly bacon, which will be served in dishes such as the Cinnfully Cinnfull Pancakes, buttermilk pancakes filled with while chocolate chips and topped with candied bacon, bacon caramel, vanilla creme, cinnamon butter and toasted pecans. You can also get your fix in liquid form via the Boss Hog, made with bacon infused bourbon and house Bloody Mary mix. The Oink Cafe in north Phoenix will also be hosting a Bacon Day fete that will feature unique, off-the-menu items that will feature bacon. We're thinking the restaurant's bacon flight would also make a fitting way to honor the date.

Food Truck Caravan's Dinner with The Disco Fries Saturday, August 30

If you're a fan of EDM (that's electric dance music for the uninformed) then you probably already know the names Nick Ditri and Danny Boselovic. The American production duo goes by the name the Disco Fries and are two of the biggest names in the national DJ scene. This Saturday night they'll be playing at Maya Nightclub, but before the show you can catch them at Scottsdale's Food Truck Caravan. In addition to checking out some of our local street food, the DJs will be filming their upcoming video -- and if you want to get in on the action all you have to do is RSVP for Dinner with the Disco Fries. The event goes from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and is free to attend.
