Oktoberfest at Tempe Town Lake Friday, October 10

This weekend Oktoberfest is in full swing around the Valley and the biggest celebration will be held at Tempe Town Lake over the next three days. Starting tomorrow you'll be able to find a half dozen beer gardens with scores of beers from Arizona and beyond at the 41st annual Tempe Oktoberfest. The event will also feature brats from Von Hanson's Meats & Spirits in Chandler, fair rides, live music, dog adoptions, and more. Admission to the event is free. Gates open at 5 p.m. on Friday. Arizona Culinary Institute's Open House Saturday, October 11

If you've been thinking about making a career change of the culinary sort, you may want to head to Arizona Culinary Institute for the school's open house this Saturday. From 9 a.m. to noon chef instructors will give tours of the school while admissions and financial aid advisers will be on hand to offer advice for perspective students. Current ACI students will also be competing in a pizza making competition, so there will be plenty of pizza to sample. End of Summer Party Saturday, October 11

In some places you have to mourn the end of summer, but here in the Valley fall means the return of double-digit temperatures and one of our favorite local beers. And those are just two of the good reasons to join Sip Coffee and Beer House in celebrating the turn of the season this Saturday in Scottsdale. From noon to 4 p.m. the restaurant/coffee shop/bar will be hosting award-winning mixologist Jason Asher and offering drink specials such as $5 whiskey mules and $3 Dale's Pale Ale, Four Peaks Kilt Lifter, Oskar Blues Mama's Little Yella Pis, and Lumberyard Knotty Pines. The event will also include live music, giveaways, and more.

Art of Cooking Series: Paella & Spanish Tapas Saturday, October 11

This weekend Lon's at the Hermosa Inn will kick off the new season of the Art of Cooking Series. The six-part series will begin with a class focusing on Paella & Spanish Tapas that runs from noon to 2 p.m. Lon's executive chef James Ducas will teach attendees how to prepare traditional Spanish paella, while enjoying also enjoying and learning the recipes for Spanish style tapas. Ingo's Pop-Up Beer Garden 2.0 Sunday, October 12

Don't worry if you missed Ingo's Pop-Up Beer Garden last month because the restaurant is bringing it back this weekend. On Sunday from 10 a.m. to close Ingo's Tasty Food will feature an outdoor beer garden featuring more than a dozen craft brews from Deschutes Brewery and Odell Brewing Company. Featured beers will be available all day for $3 and from 4 to 7pm, Kimber Stonehouse, wine + beer curator from La Grande Orange Grocery will break out special selections available for complimentary tasting. Happy hour prices on beer, wine, and sangria will be available all day.
