Support the independent voice of Phoenix and help keep the future of New Times free.
Hard to believe that nine years ago, chef Silvana Salcido Esparza and Wendy Gruber established Barrio Cafe, the now-famous restaurant featuring modern versions of traditional Mexican cuisine.
To celebrate Barrio Cafe's ninth anniversary, Esparza and Gruber are offering guests free flan all week long, from now through Sunday, July 17, as a token of their appreciation.
Barrio's flan is yummy all right, but what we're really hungry for is the opening of chef Esparza's two new restaurant concepts in Old Town Scottsdale. The waiting, yes, it's the hardest part.
