Tommy McCormack of Merc Bar says when it was created in the 1940s, gin was the most popular spirit, but the Moscow Mule gave vodka some leg and a boost in popularity.

The combination of vodka, ginger beer and cucumber creates a refreshing taste with a bite. And how many other drinks are served in an awesome copper mug?

McCormack says when a drink is presented in a way like this, it gives it more character.

"It gets people talking about it," he says. "The one thing that got people interested in this drink is the fact that it comes served in a copper mug."

The recipe:

2 oz Russian Standard Vodka
3 oz ginger beer
1 oz fresh lime juice
3 slices of cucumber

How to make it:
Muddle up the cucumber, add the vodka, ginger beer and lime juice.
