We've joked a few times about how Mill Avenue is becoming the hotspot for restaurants -- but seriously, how many eateries can Tempe possibly cram onto one street?
The latest is Capriotti's Sandwich Shop, a local franchised outpost of the Delaware-founded sub joint that opens today in the bottom floor of the Chase building at University Avenue and Mill.
They've got your usual roundup of deli-style sandwiches, plus some intriguing original concepts like The Bobbie cranberry turkey sandwich, hot pastrami with Swiss cheese and slaw, and the Cran-Slam Club -- a monster triple decker with turkey and cranberry on one level and ham and lettuce on the "top floor."
With Quizno's coming in next door and both Bison Witches and Jimmy John's a block away, we weren't holding out much hope for this newbie. But Capriotti's has a few things the others don't: hand-pulled roast beef and turkey, vegetarian versions of their turkey cole slaw and cheese steak sammies, and best of all, delivery service.
