Support the independent voice of Phoenix and help keep the future of New Times free.
Hey sugar slingers -- you have just a few more days left to enter the most fabulous caramel tasting event (well, okay, the only caramel tasting event) of the year.

Caramelpalooza 2013 will take place Friday, April 5 from 7 p.m. til the caramel runs out, at the Biltmore Fashion Park, the new home to Smeeks, which is partnering with Union and Chow Bella to bring you the fourth annual event.
Chefs can bring anything from traditional caramels to caramel-flavored confections (we've had everything from PB&J caramels to caramel macarons to caramel paletas!). The only rules: Each item must be individually wrapped and prepared in a commercial kitchen. And you've got to bring 350 of 'em.
More details are coming. For now, let us know if you want to sign up -- or have more questions. Email Phoenix New Times managing editor Amy Silverman: amy.silverman@newtimes.com. Deadline to enter: Friday, February 15.
Just wait til you see who's signed up so far.... The competition's gonna be fierce this year. And you might need to shore up your dental work before April 5.

Keep Phoenix New Times Free... Since we started Phoenix New Times, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Phoenix, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Phoenix with no paywalls.
