No, friends, it's not too early in the day to pour yourself a cold one and raise a glass to the exciting news that the inaugural Arizona Beer Week is officially in the works.

The Arizona Craft Brewers Guild just announced that it will be kicking off the week of craft-beer-centric events on February 19 with the 11th Annual Strong Beer Fest at Steele Indian School Park.

The guild's executive director, Jerry Gantt, tells me that as the name suggests, the festivities will be "Arizona-driven, not Phoenix-driven, and we're pretty excited about it." Road trip, anyone? There will be a variety of beer tastings, beer dinners, and maybe even a beer breakfast scheduled throughout the state, continuing through February 26.

Check back with Chow Bella for more event specifics as they become available.

Keep Phoenix New Times Free... Since we started Phoenix New Times, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Phoenix, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism.
