"Take & Make" Fourth of July Lobster Boil
If you're looking for something to cook up in celebration of America's birthday Petite Maison, the French restaurant in Old Town Scottsdale, has something special in store. Their crew will be taking the day off but will prepare a full lobster meal for you and yours to take home and cook on your own. Intimated? Don't worry, they'll do everything from prepping the sides, making dessert and clarifying the butter. They can even pre-crack the crustaceans upon request. For $55 a person they can provide a 2 lb live whole Maine lobster, garlic potatoes, jumbo asparagus, corn wheels, clarified butter, peach tartlet, spices, bibs and picks -- and of course, easy to follow instructions. Complimentary Wine Tasting at Lon's
Get educated at the complimentary wine tasting on Tuesday, July 2 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Lon's at the Hermosa Inn, at which whole sale seller Classico Fine Wines will feature Aia Vecchia Lagone and Elena Walch Pinot Bianco. In addition to receiving a one- to two-ounce pour of the wine, featured bottles of wine will be available for 25 percent off on the night of the event. Sommelier Bill Parker also will be on hand to suggest pairings and answer questions about the wine program.

This summer the Herb Box at SouthBridge and DC Ranch is hosting its second annual Summer Supper Club series. From Tuesday, July 2 through Thursday, July 4 diners can indulge in a three-course prix fixe dinner that costs $30 and includes a glass of wine. In honor of the land of the free and the home of the brave they'll be serving squash puppies with green tomato jam, coffee molasses smoked beef brisket and all-American apple pie with cinnamon ice cream. Indie Week Pub Crawl
To celebrate the 11th anniversary of national Independents Week, Local First Arizona invites boozers to bar hop down Tempe's best-known drinking street, Mill Avenue. The roving party kicks off at Monti's La Casa Vieja at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 3 and ends at Bison Witches after hitting hot spots including Robbie Fox's Public House and Handlebar. Each stop will offer a $4 drink special and will have local trivia with prizes including gift cards to local restaurants.The event is free to attend, though drinks and food will have to be purchased by participants. Arizona History Dinners: Poor Arizona, Nobody Wanted Us. Nobody.
The next installment of the "Arizona History Dinners" at Cartwright's Sonoran Ranch House will bring journalist and author Jana Bommersbach to the restaurant. The evening will begin at 5 p.m. with a cocktail hour; dinner will be served at 6 p.m. The menu includes watermelon and cactus salad, mesquite wood-grilled ribs and chicken thigh and Red, White and Blue cream cheese pound cake.
