Pig and Pickle Beer Dinner with Odell Brewing Company
If you haven't made it to Scottsdale's pork-centric eatery Pig and Pickle, this week's beer dinner is a perfect excuse. This month's edition of the beer dinner series will feature brews from Odell Brewing Company paired with four courses from chefs Keenan Bosworth and Joshua Riesner. Among the dishes will be grilled peaches with fresh mozzarella, mixed greens and brown sugar-peach vinaigrette paired with Odell's Tree Shaker. Cheff Off: John Wong v. Chad Bolar
Tonight, two Southeast Valley chefs will compete to see which one has got the greater skills. At 6:30 p.m. reigning Cheff Off champion John Wong will take on Chef Chad Bolar at Pesto's Pizza and Wine Bar in Chandler. Bolar's culinary cred comes from experience working the Wrigley Mansion and Christopher's. Each chef will throw down three plates to pair with three wines and attendees will vote on who takes the title to become the next reigning champ. Mi Tierra Bolivian Dinner with Guest Chef Hugo Medina
On Thursday night, June 20, local artist Hugo Medina will share the cuisine of his native country, Bolivia, at a wine dinner at Tertio Winebar. The menu includes palm heart salad and falso conejo, or chicken breast with rice and corn mix, a fried egg and tomato and onion salad. Each course will be paired with a different wine and vegan and vegetarian options are available. The dinner costs $55 a person and will begin at 6:30 p.m. For reservations, e-mail [email protected]. Kelly's Annual Affair
The roaring 20s are officially back in fashion since Baz Luhrmnan's The Great Gatsby hit theaters this spring. From 7 p.m. to close on Thursday, June 20, Kelly's at Southbridge will be celebrating in roaring style with complimentary passed appetizers including Bourbon Glazed Meatballs and Salmon Crostinis as well as a complimentary bubbly from a flowing champagne tower. Other specials will include Oysters Rockefeller ($15) and a Gatsby's Martini with Chopin vodka, olive juice and sherry-laced shaft blue loaded olives ($10). Cowboy Ciao Sommelier and Chef Showdown
The chefs and wine experts at two of the Valleys notable eateries are throwing down on Thursday, June 17, at Cowboy Ciao. Bourbon Steak's Chef Chris Curtiss will take on Lester Gonzalez at him home turf for a five-course fracas in the kitchen. Meanwhile, Cowboy Ciao Beverage Manager Chad Elsner will go head-to-head with Peter Kasperski in a battle of the bottles, to choose five wines each to compliment their chef's food.
