Heavenly: Salted Caramel Macarons at Scratch Pastries

If you're having a horrible day and you need something to turn it around, head to Scratch Pastries in Scottsdale and see if your first bite of a fresh salted caramel macaron doesn't make you smile in spite of everything else.

I stopped by for lunch today and was delighted, as always, to see owner Duc Liao, who excitedly told me about his new online fashion publication, www.canal-mag.com (it launches on the 20th).

But that wasn't the only big news around Scratch. Turns out, they've been working on crafting the perfect salted caramel macaron recipe, and they finally hammered it out a couple weeks ago.

These treats are almost as big as my palm, with a buttery, salty-sweet cream filling and the quintessential chewy texture that makes classic French macarons so craveable. Can't wait to go back for another!
