Support the independent voice of Phoenix and help keep the future of New Times free.
In what's sure to be torpedo-sized news in the world of submarine sandwich chains, Jersey Mike's, a franchise with more than 500 stores nationwide, will continue its quest for world domination (and the freshest baked bread, meats and cheeses) by opening ten more locations in Arizona. (Currently, there are seven Jersey Mike's locations in the state.)
According to a press release, the first new Jersey Mike's is expected to open by the end of the year, with the remainder planned to open throughout the Valley over the next five years. While the ten planned locations weren't listed on the press release, the Jersey Mike's website cites Chandler, Gilbert, Phoenix, and Scottsdale as "opening soon" cities for the New Jersey-based company which debuted in Arizona in 2008.
One could speculate the Jersey Mike's Phoenix location will be the one mentioned in an earlier blog post regarding the group of 60-year-old buildings on the southeast corner of the intersection of Seventh Avenue and McDowell Road.
Here come da subs.
