It wasn't a great month for restauranteurs in Phoenix, with the closing of a favorite Italian joint and a wine bar that's been around for years. On the upside, we're getting a whole bunch of Togo's -- again.

Opened:
  • Little Cleo's at The Yard in Phoenix
  • "Dishes include small plates like jars of truffle butter-poached king crab, peel-and-eat shrimp, and New England clam chowder; entrees such as grilled European sea bass (loup de mer), seafood stew, and shrimp po' boys; and the restaurant's main attraction -- an ever-changing mix of seven to eight West Coast varieties of oysters."

  • Koryo Korean BBQ in Glendale
  • Gringo Street Bar
  • "[Owner Julian] Wright calls his new operation, located on the southeast corner of Fifth Street and Mill, a "multidimensional bar," offering arcade games, a sports component (meaning, it's a great place to watch sports on multiple TVs) and a built-into-the-wall replication of a food truck, offering up an eclectic mix of food truck fare."

  • "After construction delays and hassles with his wood-burning oven, restaurateur Daniel Malventano is finally ready to get back in the restaurant game, opening Caffé Daniel at the upscale strip mall at 32nd Street and Lincoln Drive on Monday, May 6."

  • Bootlegger's in Phoenix
  • "The menu -- which will feature a serious barbecue program but won't be limited to 'cue -- will specialize in down-home cooking with a dash of complexity, expressed in dishes such as pot roast with sweet onion bread pudding and burnt ends jus; Dr Pepper-braised short ribs with black pepper Antebellum grits; blackened salmon with jalapeño-peach barbecue glaze and bacon dirty rice; Dutch oven bourbon peach cobbler-bread pudding (yes, you read that right) and Nutter Butter praline pie. Of course, the pièce de résistance surely will be the Bacon Board, featuring five types of bacon served with grilled toast points and a variety of mustards."

  • "Renegade by Mod (O'Dowds initials) is actually a re-launch/re-brand of Renegade Canteen (later Renegade Tap & Kitchen) in North Scottsdale, the former home of chefs Aaron May and, originally, James Beard Award winner Robert McGrath, who brought his notable Southwestern style to the restaurant when it opened it 2010."

  • "Known for its impressive wine selection and epic cheese boards (not to mention some tasty mac 'n' cheese selections), Cheuvront's has made a go of pleasing customers for 10 years at its home at at 1326 North Central Avenue.

    But times, they are a-changin'."
