Latke Party!
Latkes, anyone? This Friday, December 16th, you'll be able to get your fill of the traditional Hanukkah potato treats as Petite Maison and Nora Schaefer (aka Mrs. EricEatsOut) team up to raise funds for local no-kill dog and cat adoption center, PawPlacement.org. Bring in food, treats, toys or anything else you think that the puppies and kittens at Paw Placement could use and you will be rewarded with unlimited Latkes (from Mrs. EricEatsOut's famous recipe) topped with cream fraiche, apple sauce, and caviar. Make it a real party with one of Petite Maison's Red Cup drinks -- $5 scores you a red Solo cup with a surprise cocktail inside. The special Staff Meal starts at 10 p.m. For more info, check out Petite Maison on Twitter

Have you ever made homemade marshmallows? They are unbelievably easy (don't be afraid of your candy thermometer!) and make adorable gifts. We love these Peppermint Swirl Marshmallows from Krissy's Creations. Make a batch tonight to spice up your hot chocolate.

Keep Phoenix New Times Free... Since we started Phoenix New Times, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Phoenix, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Phoenix with no paywalls.
