Phoenix Cooks!
If you don't have plans this Saturday, we highly recommend you get your butt off the couch and get down to JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort & Spa for the first culinary event of the fall season, Phoenix Cooks! From 10 a.m. to 3  p.m. , sample delicious eats from more than 50 Valley restaurants and resorts, sip wine from boutique wineries, and learn a thing or two at one of 20 chef demos. Participating chefs include Matt Carter from The Mission and Zinc Bistro, Tim Fields from Chelsea's Kitchen, Geoff Baumberger from Tanzy, and many more. Be sure to check out the 2nd Annual Latte Art Competition while you're there -- 30 baristas will enter, but only one will win. Click here to see the full schedule of events and to purchase tickets.

End-of-Summer Angel Food Cake
End of summer? Ha, wishful thinking! While the rest of the country talks about warm summer days coming to an end, we will just keep on sweating it up in our seemingly never-ending heat. Hot or not, we're still going to turn our oven on to make this pretty pink Strawberry Angel Food Cake. We may be sweating but at least our sweet tooth will be satisfied.

Keep Phoenix New Times Free... Since we started Phoenix New Times, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Phoenix, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Phoenix with no paywalls.
