International Sushi Day!
RA Sushi might have made this holiday up, but we are pretty fond of sushi -- especially when it's free.  Tomorrow just happens to be International Sushi Day (along with other notable "holidays" like World Jugglers Day and, our personal favorite, International Panic Day) and all five Valley RA Sushi locations are celebrating with free sushi. Hit up RA's Facebook page tomorrow (you have to like then first), print out the coupon and redeem it for a free Tootsy Maki roll between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. The Tootsy roll is filled with chilled crab mix, shrimp and cucumbers and then topped with crunchy tempura and sweet eel sauce -- no wonder it's one of RA's most popular rolls. Enjoy!

Grilled Angel Food Cake
Dessert on the grill? Hell yes! This dish, with its perfect grill marks and vibrant, honey fruit salad, looks like the perfect summertime dessert.  We're going to make it this weekend. We'll let you know how it turns out.

Keep Phoenix New Times Free... Since we started Phoenix New Times, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Phoenix, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism.
