It's a makeover just in time for spring.

Ristorante Tuscany, the upscale Italian eatery at JW Marriott Desert Ridge, has been transformed into a new spot called, simply, Tuscany.

Although the restaurant did not close down for the transition, it's undergone quite a few changes to become a more casual concept than its previous incarnation. The inspiration was "the comfort and cuisine of a traditional Italian country home."

The new chef, Oliver Reschreiter, is also the resort's executive chef. His new menu features more casual fare, from pizzas to handmade pastas to small plates, all showcasing locally sourced ingredients from purveyors such as McClendon Select, Seacat Gardens, Crow's Dairy, and Queen Creek Olive Mill, as well as fresh organic herbs grown onsite.

There's an antipasti bar stocked with burrata and hand-pulled mozzarella and other cheeses, cured meats, and grilled ciabatta. Desserts are made by the resort's award-winning pastry team (they were the 2009 Pastry Champions and will be competing again this year's World Team Pastry Championships)>

The atmosphere is cozier now, too, with comfy seating, a communal table, and an open kitchen with a walnut wood-fired oven at the center.
