Can any metropolitan area top the Valley for sheer quantity of culinary festivals?
Seems doubtful, since the number of food-centric events across town only continues to grow. This Saturday happens to be the debut of TASTE Chandler's Culinary Festival, which will take over AJ Chandler Park (between Arizona Ave. and Buffalo St.) from 6 to 11 p.m.
And why shouldn't Chandler have its very own festival? Considering the flourishing restaurant scene in its historic downtown area, this part of the Southeast Valley is ripe for a showcase of its local talents.
98 South, Cork, Juan Jaime's Tacos & Tequila, and D'Vine Bistro & Wine Bar are just a sampling of the dozens of eateries doling out food samples, along with beverage tastings from local breweries and Alliance Beverage, a silent auction, and live jazz. Tickets are $45 and proceeds benefit the non-profit Downtown Chandler Community Foundation.
