Papaya on the left, Thai tea boba on the right
I remember the first time I had bubble/boba tea. Those tapioca balls tasted as good as the first time my lips met a piss-quality brewski, which is to say that it was a baaddd experience.
But now, I heart boba tea, especially at Pho Avina, by far my favorite west side Vietnamese restaurant that Miss Chow Bella herself, Michele Laudig, introduced to me while she was working on this review.
I enjoyed the fruity papaya boba, which had the consistency of a perfectly blended Slushee, while my dining companion drank up the more traditional Thai tea boba. Both were bomb. And, best of all, Pho Avina has fourteen flavors of boba priced from $2.99 to $3.99.
