S'mores -- the all-American, classic dessert that was once reserved for campfires and sing-a-longs has managed to make its way onto just about every food blog and restaurant menu across the country in the form of ice cream, cupcakes, tarts, pancakes -- you name it, it's probably been turned into a S'more.

Fun Fact: The first recorded S'mores recipe was published in "Tramping and Trailing with the Girl Scouts" in 1927.

Good job, Girl Scouts. Now where's the S'mores cookie?!

For this week's Battle of the Dishes we put Frank & Albert's Tableside S'mores up against Beckett's Table's Chocolate Bacon S'mores.

Which gooey, melty, chocolatey treat wins the good fight? Find out after the jump...

In One Corner: Frank & Albert's at the Biltmore, 2400 E. Missouri, Phoenix

The Set-up: Located at the entrance to the posh Biltmore Hotel, Frank & Albert's isn't your typical stuffy resort eatery; the ambiance is cozy and the menu is fantastic. The Tableside S'mores are brought to your table on a wooden tray with all ingredients nestled neatly in their own compartments

Pros:  It's as classic as you can get -- two whole Hersey's bars, a handful of marshmallows straight out of a bag and cheap graham crackers. You even get to "roast" the marshmallows over an open flame. Which means if you want them charred, go for it, light that marshmallow on fire!

Cons: The price tag. Ten dollars for two bucks worth of ingredients?  We understand it's the Biltmore, but seriously, ten whole dollars for DIY S'mores?! For $10 at least give us a block of Godiva.

In the Other Corner: Beckett's Table, 3717 E. Indian School Rd., Phoenix

The Set-up: Modern and sleek, yet homey and comfortable, Beckett's serves up a menu of unique comfort foods including their signature Chocolate Covered Bacon S'mores -- two crispy pieces of bacon covered in rich chocolate served with freshly torched homemade marshmallows, caramel-drizzled graham crackers, and a scoop of peanut butter cream.

Pros: Bacon. Chocolate-covered bacon.

Cons: A little goes a very, very long way. This dessert is so rich, one bite is all we could handle.

The Verdict: It's a hard call since the two desserts are the same yet so different. We love the chocolate-covered bacon at Beckett's but the classic S'mores at Frank & Albert's made us feel like kids again.Sometimes nothing can beat Hersey's chocolate and a warm, chemical-filled store-bought marshmallow -- not even chocolate-covered bacon.
