The Guilty Pleasure: Spicy Chicken Cool Ranch Doritos Locos Tacos Where to Get It: Taco Bell Price: About $2 What It Really Costs: Try saying "Spicy Chicken Cool Ranch Doritos Locos Taco" without feeling ridiculous. Just try.

It seems Taco Bell is incapable of leaving the whole "Doritos Locos" line of menu items alone for more than a few months at at time. I can't blame them because people really do go loco over this stuff. This time around they've switched out the ground beef in the Doritos Locos Tacos for shredded chicken and spicy ranch sauce.

If you've never had a regular Cool Ranch Doritos Locos Taco, we'll start with the fact the the shells are coated in a thin dusting of that familiar Cool Ranch Doritos flavoring. Note that I say, "thin dusting." You're not going to get a bold ranch dressing flavor from a single bite, the taco shells are no where near as flavorful as an actual Cool Ranch Doritos chip. The good news is that as you eat your way through a taco or two the flavor will begin to build up on you. It's actually pretty nice the way that works with this new taco.

Here's why: The spicy ranch sauce is pretty damn hot.

Like, surprisingly hot. And if you don't think so at first bite, just a few seconds after you swallow because it really lingers on the palate and gives a nice slow burn. Thankfully, the Cool Ranch flavor also builds up the more you eat, so you kind of get a nice balance of the two favors.

It's also nice that the zesty sauce packs a lot of flavor because the chicken itself is kind of horrible. We also tried one of the regular Chicken Cool Ranch Doritos Locos Tacos, but the chicken was so bland and soggy that we couldn't bare to finish it. The sauce does wonders to mask the horrible chicken, adding both flavor and a mask for the displeasing texture.

Other only other complaint about the Spicy Chicken Cool Ranch Doritos Locos Taco is that the soggy chicken made the shell soggy as well, which as you can imagine, makes for a very messy meal. The cardboard taco holders do a nice job of keeping everything in place until you make it home, but from that point on, good luck trying to avoid getting chicken and sauce in your lap.

Overall, the Spicy Chicken Cool Ranch Doritos Locos Taco is definitely more flavorful than the original beef version. But we'd still prefer the original over the plain chicken variety.
