On Saturday, July 18, hundreds of craft beer fans headed to the Phoenix Convention Center for the second annual Real, Wild & Woody Best Festival. Organized by the Arizona Craft Brewers Guild, this event has quickly become a don't-miss affair for the true craft beer aficionados of the Valley.
The reason is right in the name — the "real" in "Real, Wild & Woody" refers to "real ales" or those serves directly from the cask in which they were made. For this one-day event, many local breweries prepare special, limited-edition brews that get tapped throughout the event drawing long lines of those trying to get a taste.
This year's festival brought more than 50 breweries from around Arizona and the country to one large room, and attendees were able to wander around from table to table sampling some rare beers that may never exist again.
