The Hours: Ticoz offers relaxed pricing on drinks and apps every day of the week from 3 to 6:30 pm, and again from 10 pm to close.

The Details: Half-priced drinks all around with their signature drinks (margs, mojitos, sangrias), wine, well drinks, and draft beers all discounted. Select appetizers are also just $5 during happy hour, and they offer a different food and drink special that changes depending on the day.

The Interior: Ticoz is from the same cut as its ex-sister restaurants, Fez, Switch, and the newest addition, Bliss/Rebar. Chic, polished and urban, but this one has more of a Latin flair. The bar features a sitting area more like a comfy living room, as well as a long leather booths with high top tables, and of course, seating at the bar. The bar section of this restaurant is adorned by a warm, rich color palate, luxe leather and plenty of comfy cushions.

The Cost: Two drinks and four different apps came to about 25 bucks before tax and tip.

The Conclusion: The drink specials alone are worth working Ticoz into your happy hour rotation. Two buck domestic drafts and fancy pants sangria, margaritas and mojitos for about $3.50. The flavor combinations for margaritas and mojitos were intriguing with options ranging from blood orange to lychee. Likewise, the sangria had some serious potential with a passion fruit, watermelon, or kiwi base. Wine, wells, and other beers were also half-priced, and we noticed that there was an option to add an "evil shot" of house liquor for an extra two bucks.

The food is also priced well on happy hour at $5 for their lettuce wraps, two generous tacos, a mountain of nachos or the signature guacammus. The chicken lettuce wraps were a nice balance between sweet and tangy, with off beat ingredients like dried cherries, mango and pineapple melding with pepitas and macadamia nuts in a tangy vinaigrette. The taco duo was also generous, with your choice of meat served nestled in two flour tortillas garnished with pickled onions and other fancy toppings. These two tacos alone would have made a mighty fine meal.

Off the happy hour menu, but still in reasonable price range, were the waffle fries ($4.95) and a cup of the red pozole ($3.95). The pozole was filled with tender pulled pork and hominy, but was a bit on the tart side, while the fries managed to maintain their crisp well after they had gone cold. A solid happy hour option that earns its place in our regular rotation.
