If you want a taste of cocktail culture's cutting edge, head to the farm.

I'm being literal: Make your way to the Farm at South Mountain this evening, and try Quiessence's new Farmhouse Cocktails at a discount.

From 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. every last Thursday of the month, chef Greg LaPrad's award-winning restaurant will host a Half-Price Cocktail Social Hour.

The new craft cocktail list sounds scrumptious and makes use of the best farm-fresh ingredients -- there's an old fashioned made with fresh peach and orange, an organic basil gimlet, a blackberry bramble, and more unique concoctions to quench your thirst.

In case you haven't read your September issue of Bon Appetit yet, there's a trend piece on page 76 detailing exactly how this "farm-to-bar" approach is the latest development in the cocktail revolution.

Once again, Quiessence pushes the envelope. Are you surprised? I'm not.

I'm just thirsty.

Keep Phoenix New Times Free... Since we started Phoenix New Times, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Phoenix, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Phoenix with no paywalls.
