Mesa Arts Center was home to Amococo luminarium, a sculpture made in Nottingham, England that was brought to Mesa by Architects of Air. The luminariam has visited numerous places around the globe, now including Arizona. Visitors kicked off their shoes before they entered the hand made luminarium for a mystifying time. Once inside of the luminarium, visitors were able to walk around the hallways and relax as they laid down on the floors and absorbed the ambiance. Shades of red, blue and green were prominent through each hallway, but the colors were brighter in the specified domes. The luminarium was made up of four domes, each inspired by Islamic architecture. Amococo was illuminated by natural light during the day and artificial light during night, both bringing a world of color and trapping it inside a dome of enchantment.
