Alexander has left the building. Gammage Auditorium in Tempe has felt awfully empty since Hamilton ended its run on February 25 (the touring production is now in Denver), but before the crazy-popular production left, it left its mark on an audience that typically doesn't have a chance to see any Broadway show, let alone the hottest. The Hamilton Education Program, sponsored in part by the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History, has been making it possible for kids to see the production in New York and other cities around the country at dramatically reduced prices. On February 23, 2,700 Arizona high school students from 43 Title 1 schools spent the entire day at Gammage. In the morning they watched original, Hamilton-inspired performances by their peers and had a Q&A with the touring cast. Then, they attended a matinee performance of Hamilton.
