If we know anything about chef Silvana Salcido Esparza, it's that she doesn't do anything half-heartedly. So when she announced that her newest restaurant, Barrio Cafe Gran Reserva, was moving into the old Bragg's Factory Diner location on Grand Avenue, we couldn't wait to see what she did with the place.
Though she says she's taking her time in opening the eight-table restaurant, Esparza let us in last week to have a peek. Stocked full of Mexican ingredients and murals by local artists, including Lalo Cota, Angel Diaz, and Pablo Luna, it seems the only thing left for Esparza to add is the menu.
