Fashion History was created at the Grand Opening of FABRIC

It used to be that if an Arizona fashion designer wanted their collection to be manufactured, they had to have it done in Los Angeles, or even China. The AZ Apparel Foundation, LabelHorde, AZ Fashion Source, and the City of Tempe all recognize how crucial it is that Arizona fashion designers stay in their hometown, and thus, FABRIC was born. FABRIC stands for Fashion And Business Resource Innovation Center. Saturday evening was the grand opening of the new facility, where local fashion lovers toured the three-story fashion incubator space that holds 23,000 square feet of everything a fashion-industry professional could ever need. In the basement were the fashion studios, a photo studio, and even a recording studio. The ground floor featured a large event/runway space, screen-printing studio, fashion classroom, the reception area, and the Arizona Fashion Source space. Finally, the top floor had offices, co-working spaces, and the sound booth, not to mention a great view of the event/runway space below. While touring the facility, attendees enjoyed a light buffet, desserts, and a cash bar. The highlight of the evening was, of course, the runway show featuring House of Holmes designs. Thanks to the board of directors' hard work and dedication, especially that of Angela Johnson, the city of Tempe is supporting this important cause to make Arizona a fashion capital. Photos by Mello.
