Nineteen of the 20 members of the Granite Mountain Hotshots were killed during the Yarnell Hill Fire on June 30, 2013. More than a half-million dollars in fines were levied against the Arizona State Forestry Division  for safety violations after an investigation by the Arizona Division of Occupational Safety and Health.  The report included dozens of photos of the fire, taken before and after the deaths of the hotshots. Some of the photos were taken by the fallen hotshots themselves.
