How does one sell out an entire comedy club on a Sunday night in North Phoenix? Easy- Host a macaroni and cheese cook off! Eight restaurants sent their chefs to participate in the 2014 Mac 'N' Chesse Throwdown at The House of Comedy in North Phoenix's
High Street, the area once known as City North. Tickets sold out quick and the place was swarmed by hungry mac fiends seeking their cheesy fix.
Among the participants were Chef Mel Mecinas of Talavera, Chef Jon Marchetti of District Kitchen & Wine Bar, Rick Bronson of House of Comedy, Chef Richard Garcia of Zuzu at Hotel Valley Ho, Sasha of 24 Carrots Natural Cafe & Urban Juicery, CHef Stephen K. Eldridge of Pink Pony, Chef John Collura of Cibo e Vino and Chef John Cruz of Social Box Neighborhood Eatery.
Mel Mecinas' lobster and chorizo mac took first place, Jon Marchetti's concoction too both second place as well as peoples' choice with Rick Bronson himself rounding out the top three.
