Mixed media was a recurring trend in this month's Third Friday shows. This was true in Malena Barnhart's show at Eye Lounge, where she applied cute and controversial temporary tattoos on a model, as well as at the closing reception for "Pretty/Creepy: The Dainty Little Freak Show," featuring Daniel Shepherd's collages at Chartreuse. While many were showcasing their work on gallery walls, others preferred a more permanent statement, like Hugo Medina and Darrin Armijo-Wardle's new mural on the Renaissance Phoenix Downtown Hotel.
