Joy Matsushita-Saul, a financial advisor from Gilbert, arrived with a truck full of clothing and hygiene donations she had spent the day collecting from friends and other concerned people throughout the East Valley.
On Friday night there was a march and sit-in to protest the recently passed Tempe law which would increase the fine for anyone sitting or laying down on Mill Avenue to $100. More than a couple dozen activists attended, and several more brought donations for those in need, including clothing, personal hygiene products, and even some vegan tamales.
