Tom and James Franco's Carved and Glazed Sewer Pipes

A new show at ASU Art Museum's Ceramic Research Center at Brickyard features works by the "Pipe Brothers" -- San Francisco Bay-area sculptor Tom Franco and his actor/artist brother James -- a series of 750 pound clay sewer pipes that the brothers have carved and glazed. The works were produced in collaboration with west side pipe manufacturer Mission Clay Products. New Times met with ceramics curator Garth Johnson to get the low-down on the exhibit.
