The Off-Season of Our Discontent

We want football. Give us football now.

Published on April 17, 2008

It’s no secret that we’re college-football freaks. That’s why this time of year is especially trying for us pigskin pigs. For example, we recently, during a fit of boredom, perused various athletic Web sites looking for out-of-town gridiron trips this coming fall. (This was in March, mind you.) But no matter how hard we wished that the season could start, say, tomorrow, the online schedules kept staring us in the face, teasing us with that August 30 start date.

But all hope is not lost in our college-football-obsessed world, thanks to the free ASU Spring Football Game, which takes place at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 19. Our 2007 Pac-10 co-champs are looking to improve on last season’s surprising 10-3 record, and with returning starters such as quarterback Rudy Carpenter and safety Troy Nolan, we think 2008 will be a great year in our lives. (Well, at least the months August through December.)
