At 162 regular-season games, plus 30-odd preceding contests that don’t count a lick, the baseball season can be cruelly long, and whether this year’s Arizona Diamondbacks cough up another fist-size fur ball or actually win something that matters, we’re all gonna be pretty sick of hearing those words “Arizona Diamondbacks” long before September. Right now, though – and even though it doesn’t count a lick – we’re champing at the bit for the first pitch at today’s Diamondbacks/Cleveland Indians exhibition at the Indians’ $100 million new digs, Goodyear Ballpark. The match-up marks the D-Backs’ 2009 Valley debut, and is a highlight of the first full week of Cactus League 2009.
