Model Citizen

Native Russian shows off wares

“I feel my style is really anti-babe,” says Tatiana Sorokko, model, contributing editor to Harper's Bazaar, and vintage clothing collector. “No ruffles, no polka dots, no anything pink and fabulous, but something with intelligence and thought behind the great designers of the 20th century.”

The lady knows her Lagerfeld. As the first Russian model to achieve international success, Sorokko fired up the fashion scene of the 1990s, working it on the runway for legends like Yves Saint Laurent, Gianfranco Ferré, and Marc Jacobs, not to mention appearing in Harper’s Bazaar, Vogue, and Elle for over 10 years.

In a one-night-only discussion, Sorokko will speak about individual pieces from her 20th-century designer couture collection, which features 60 garments and accessories on display at the Phoenix Art Museum. A Q&A and book-signing will follow the event.
