When you hail from the region of ranch dressing and novelty sweaters (a.k.a. the Midwest), a little nonconformity goes a long way. Just ask the members of the Super Happy Funtime Burlesque troupe.

Billing itself as “The Rocky Horror Picture Showmeets Saturday Night Live,” this naughty-meets-nonsense comedic musical theater troupe from Michigan features fishnets, fake mustaches, and a smokin’ five-piece band wrapped up in an evening of sideshow tricks, magic acts, and striptease theatrics. With such kookily named cast members as Mr. Happy Pants, Lala Vulvaria, and Camilla Cupcake, what’s not to lasciviously love?

Get happy on Saturday, April 16, when the troupe visits The Duce, 525 South Central Avenue. The local ladies of burlesque troupe Provocatease are also scheduled to perform, along with DJ Shane Kennedy, who’ll be spinning vintage tracks both before and after the 21-and-over show.
