The day that renowned ballet star Maria Tallchief met future husband (and legendary choreographer George Balanchine) was a watershed moment in her life. Ditto for the day when she became the first prima ballerina of the New York Ballet in 1947. Both events, as well as other remarkable moments from her life and career, are covered in the 2007 documentary Tallchief, which will be screened at the Heard Museum as a part of its free Movie Mondays series.
