When Tim Bergling started crafting electronica in 2008 in the bedroom of his Stockholm residence, he drew inspiration from his countryman Eric Prydz and the members of the Swedish House Mafia. Flash-forward to 2012, and the 22-year-old artist (now known as Avicii) is sharing the bill with his heroes at blockbuster events like the Electric Daisy Carnival. But they (particularly Prydz) also have become big followers of Avicii's music, having both retooled and broadcast the artist's tracks at gigs around the globe. They're not the only ones. Bergling's amassed a following among both EDM aficionados and DJs (like the legendary Pete Tong, host of BBC Radio 1's Essential Mix) with his majestic mixes of progressive house and electro. Just how popular is Bergling? His singles and releases ("Street Dancer," "Bromance," "My Feeling for You") tend to scorch the Beatport charts and thousands typically attend his gigs. Witness for yourself when Bergling visits the Phoenix Convention Center, 100 North Third Street, on Sunday, January 15, on the House for Hunger Tour. Ecotek and the duo of Thomas Turner and Timothy Heit also will perform. Doors open at 7 p.m. Admission is $41. Visit www.wanttickets.com.
