Jugg-Fest 2012 is almost upon us. But what does that mean? Has the Gathering of the Juggalos come to Arizona? Will thousands of Insane Clown Posse faithful descend upon our fair valley with their hybrid gang-like ways? Well, actually, no. You see, Jugg-Fest is a Polynesian reggae festival. Following the first day of the Arizona Aloha Festival, the Juggernaut Music Entertainment-sponsored event promises to showcase smooth island sounds by some of the genre's biggest names, including renowned Compton, California, crooner J-Boog, Spawnbreezie, Natural Roots, Ray Leger, Common Kings, and Local Culture. Arizona-based Kava-Kreation will also be on hand for the all-ages festivities. Currently playing out of Mesa, the eight-piece brings together influences from their native islands of Hawaii, Samoa, Tonga, and New Zealand to create "island style riddimz" behind chill harmonies and twangy guitar plucks. JME happens to be the brainchild of Arizona Cardinals fullback Reagan Maui'a. The Samoan-American football player nicknamed "The Juggernaut" formed the organization last year with the hopes of "integrating Pacific Island culture with a smooth, modern sound in a way that provides people the ability to enjoy the island way of life wherever one may be." And people say it's a dry heat.
