  • Is This Jay-Z and Radiohead Mash-Up Really Necessary?

Brand new to the internet this week is the latest effort from DJ Minty Fresh Beats, otherwise known as 22-year old New Yorker Max Tannone. Tannone has harnessed the eternal power of Jay-Z's The Black Album for his own evil-doing, choosing Radiohead as his partner in crime in creating this week's mash-up sensation Jaydiohead. The effort is all there, he employs a few different Radiohead albums - OK Computer, Kid A and In Rainbows - to accomplish his mashing. It's a novel concept, the mash-up, and

  • Young Jeezy and Jay-Z: "My President Is Black" (Live)

I'm not sure I've seen anything that sums up the raucous atmosphere surrounding the Obama inauguration better than this live video for "My President is Black" with Young Jeezy and Jay-Z (a.k.a. Old Jeezy), which I came across over on The Village Voice's music blog, Sound of the City. If anything, it sure beats the hell out of that insufferable Will.i.am video that -- I swear it -- almost made me vote for McCain. On the jump.

  • Jay-Z Has 99 Problems (But A Bush Ain't One)

Last night was the Obama Staff Ball in Washington. While the stars of the night were the president and vice president, the entertainment was top-notch, Jay-Z and Arcade Fire. The ball was the final event in the weeklong celebration of the historic inauguration. It was a party for the thousands of staffers who helped Obama's campaign, most of them in their 20s. The line of the night, though, came from Jay-Z, who performed a new version of his classic: "99 Problems" (But a Bush Ain't One). I wond

(Plus, he also shares the moniker of the first man on the moon to boot.) Although Mr. Beyoncé Knowles won't be hitting the stage at Dodge Theatre until to

Luke HolwerdaJay Z took the "connect with the fans" thing to extremes at his Dodge Theatre show.Jay Z's claim to being "The Best Rapper Alive" is delivered so flippantly it's almost filler anymore. Certainly, there was a time after 2003's The Black Album dropped that it'd have been indisputable to any serious fan of hip-hop music, but, in the years since, it's become such a droning constant that I can't recall the last time I put Jigga's self-applied title under any real scrutiny. Victor J. And, with emotions running high, it also shouldn't have been surprising when she got a little verklempt at the start of the newly-improvised
