With real unemployment hovering near 20 percent, there is nothing in sports more accessible to the common fan than the last game of the NFL preseason. While the established stars don baseball caps and feign interest, the men on the field know that one big play or horrible mistake could be the difference between a year of gainful employment in the NFL or a year of bagging groceries.
The player to watch during tonight’s game between the Arizona Cardinals and the Washington Redskins is Cards’ receiver Stephen Williams. The former Toledo Rocket went undrafted in April, but Williams’ stellar play has helped him turn a camp invite from the Cardinals into a legitimate shot to make the team’s opening-day roster.
