Flashy car? Hell, landlubber, jammin’ jalopies are a dime a dozen here in P-Town. Give us a hot boat any day.

Tubs don’t get much toastier than the ones that hit the lake at Firebird International Raceway Thursday, November 19, through Sunday, November 22, for the annual NAPA Auto Parts IHBA World Finals. IHBA stands for “International Hot Boat Association,” and we’re talkin’ liquid lawnmowers – sporty top-fuel hydros that reach speeds of up to 250 mph and can do a fluid quarter-mile in five seconds flat.

The meet kicks off with a test ’n’ tune from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today. Qualifying starts at 8 a.m. Friday.

Thu., Nov. 19; Fri., Nov. 20; Sat., Nov. 21, 2009
