Today is Local News Day
A national day of action to support and celebrate the trusted local journalism that strengthens communities. If you believe local news matters — this is the day to show your support. Make a contribution today to help keep our reporting free and accessible to all.
For an artist, finding the medium you were destined to work in is like finding a soul mate or the perfect home. John Modzelewski had been creating art for many years when he discovered his affinity for fused glass. Now he’s all about the heat, color, and light, whipping out works that sell like shiny, inedible hotcakes, from massive wall pieces that would rock a hotel foyer or corporate HQ to small-scale treasures just for you (such as his popular tiki gods and other Polynesian motifs in housewares and jewelry).
Practical Art is displaying Modzelewski’s new fine-art pieces during the month of July. At this free reception, you can scarf refreshments and enjoy the show, but also stop to admire the useful pretty things (by Modzelewski and 59 other local artisans) that Jane Reddin’s store carries year-round.
