Reader support matters more than ever

We're in the final stretch of our summer campaign. Our goal is to raise $15,000 by August 9 to support the journalism our community relies on. Reader support is helping shape the future of local news.

$15,000

The Valley will be indie-less (cinema-wise) come Monday morning, but before that happens, Chandler Cinemas owner Matthew Yenkala and pals will end the most unlikely mating of a truly independent showcase and the Chandler suburbs with a big bang on Sunday afternoon. Plans (which range from firm to tentative) include screenings of Repo! The Genetic Opera (pictured), The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and Lobsterman from Mars, live performances by Page the Village Idiot, Strange Family Circus, and Christopher McCullough, and a sale of goods such as posters and furniture. There’s a charge for the movie screenings; the other events, held in the theater’s lobby, are free.
