Brent Jeffs knew his destiny from an early age. The son of a prominent family in the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Jeffs expected to have multiple wives and significant power in the 10,000-member polygamous FLDS community. But as he grew older, Brent, nephew of Warren Jeffs, the imprisoned leader of the FLDS, became aware that the group’s pious public image cloaked a dark, nasty world filled with sexual abuse and lies. So he bolted, later filing a sexual-abuse lawsuit against his uncle and writing Lost Boys, a book about his childhood and the fate of many other “lost boys” who’ve left or been expelled from FLDS.
Jeffs reads from and signs his memoir at Changing Hands Bookstore.
