The challenges facing local news organizations are very real. That's why reader support matters more than ever. If you believe independent journalism matters, make a contribution today and help us reach our summer fundraising goal of $15,000 by August 9.
Roosevelt/Grand remains the undisputed kahuna of the Phoenix arts, but the First Fridays concept has started seeping out of downtown like a stream of bubbling goo in recent years. One of the places the sticky stuff stuck is the charming if long-suffering stretch of Seventh Avenue called “The Curve” (and/or Phoenix Melrose District). Check out the area — still, always, in flux — during this eighth annual event, which features a car show, live music, kids’ activities, and arts and crafts. Our only beef: Why, oh why, throw this wingding during Art Detour? Perhaps this is why “The Curve” is still — always — in flux.
