Many fans recognize comedian Jo Koy as the much teased, much put-upon panelist on the Chelsea Lately talk show. Host Chelsea Handler bogusly claims the heterosexual Koy is gay, and she frequently encourages him to come out of the closet. The running gag plays to Koy’s strong suit, that he is a misunderstood everyman who can’t catch a break. Onstage, Koy often uses his family as fodder for his observational comedy (his mom, who often bullies him on her own Internet radio show, and his wild-child son). During his Houston visit several months ago, Koy was working on new material for a completely revamped show. We expect his mom and son will still be part of the freshened-up routine.
